The UMW is helping to collect warm clothing for the needy and homeless. They nees socks, undershirts (L & XL), knit caps, gloves, and long underwear. If you have a good used coat or heavy jacket, they will be needed also. There will be a box for these items at the ramp door. They will be taken to Community Care and Room in the Inn. You have been so generous in the past; let's not forget these 'Children of God'.
You know it is our plan to be a part of Stephen Ministries. We were too late to apply this year, so we plan to submit our application January 2010. We will keep you informed on a monthly basis about the program.
The Pastor, Anne Davis and John Cail will be the lay leaders from the church. If you have any questions, thoughts, or concerns, please le the above know, but more important, keep us in your prayers. God Bless.
Many of you know the Christmas party for the students at the School for the Blind means a lot to me. This party as I have said is for you and me as much as for them. This year I am going to give a party for some students at the school. It will be held at the school and they have a beautiful facility. If you would like to participate, you will be very welcomed.
To people who do not know what the party is like her is a description:
1.Students at the School for the Blind that may not have much for Christmas or none at all are invited.
2.Their teacher or Dorm Leader will tell us what they need and clothes’ sizes.
3.Each one will receive a gift of sweatshirt, socks, and underwear.
4.If you want to support a child, you will adopt him/her for the party and talk to them, serve and eat with them and give a personal gift of about $10 or $15.
5.Santa Claus will be there and pictures with him will be given to the child.
6.We will have Krystals, hot dogs, chips, cookies, brownies and cold drinks.
7.The party will be on a week day from 5:00 - 7:30 p.m.
What is needed for those to participate is to adopt a child or furnish cookies or brownies or help with the expenses if you can. The amount of students we invite will depend on the number of families who want to participate.
This is what I think Christmas is all about. -Pal Hawkins
